Expert college counseling and application guidance
I believe that college counseling should be a collaborative and supportive process. I strive to empower students to take ownership of their college search and application process while providing guidance and expertise. It is my goal for students to find their best fit college.
I offer a range of services, including one-on-one in person or Zoom meetings, college list building, application and essay coaching, resume building, and more. My goal is to provide support to students and their families throughout the entire college application process.
Hello, and welcome to my corner of the web! My name is Megan Newman, also known as Mrs. College Knowledge, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you.
I hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Materials Engineering from Auburn University. After graduating, I embarked on a journey in the engineering field, gaining valuable experience working with several companies including Lockheed Martin, Ford Motor Company and L’Oreal, USA. Eventually, my career path led me into the realm of supply chain management, where I honed my skills in logistics and operations for both L’Oreal and Estée Lauder.
However, my desire for making a difference in people's lives led me to pursue a new path. I returned to college and earned my Master's degree in School Counseling from Seton Hall University. This decision marked a significant turning point in my career as I transitioned into the field of education.
For over a decade, I served as a dedicated school counselor, guiding and supporting students academically, personally and socially through the highs and lows of their academic journey. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job was assisting students in the college application process, helping them unlock doors to their future. It was a natural transition then, when I decided to move into college admissions advising full time. I love my work.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I love my life in a houseful of boys- my husband, our twin boys, and our sweet but not so bright dog. I love all sports but in my spare time, you'll often find me on the golf course.
Last, I consider myself to be a “student of colleges,” visiting between 20 and 30 schools each year and consulting with admissions representatives. I am an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and the New Jersey Association for College Admissions Counseling, which are wonderful networks of colleagues with whom I am constantly learning and collaborating.
